Let's Talk About Sales and Marketing
Let’s talk about marketing and sales, an always hot topic! 🔥 There are many ways people think these two teams should collaborate and work together. 🤝 So here, is how I would structure them:
I believe that marketing and sales should be seen as a revenue team, and not two separate teams. 🫶
1) By organising them all under one leader, it becomes super clear how we’re all driving towards the same common goal, revenue. 💰
2) We need to think about a holistic sales journey for our customers. 🛣️ The sales cycle is no longer a very linear road. 🚧 A lead might first hear from an outbound sales rep ⏭️ see an ad from marketing ⏭️ have a demo call with a sales rep ⏭️ attend a marketing webinar ⏭️ sign a deal with a sales rep ⏭️ added into a new customer marketing email flow ⏭️ work with a sales rep to expand their deal……this journey can go on and on. 🔄
3) Messaging needs to be defined together. 📫 Messaging doesn’t start and end with marketing, sales uses it too when they’re talking to customers. 📯 It’s essential that we’re speaking the same language and leads see an aligned narrative, no matter what they’re engaging with.
